We’re excited to share a update on the progress of Home #45—and it’s a big one. A Major Milestone Reached The fourth green inspection sticker has been placed on the front window of Home #45, marking the completion of a key set of required inspections. These green stickers represent important checkpoints in the construction process, and reaching this stage is a significant step forward for the home. DeVos Insulation came on site and successfully blew in the insulation, helping bring the home one step closer to being energy-efficient, comfortable, and ready for interior finishes. Groundbreaking for Home #45

On Sunday, March 9, community members, board members, and volunteers gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of Home #45 at 1201 N Broadway in Hastings. This milestone marks the beginning of a new home for the Hammond-Cooper family, who were selected as the partner family for this build. The ceremony featured opening remarks from Cindy Preston, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Barry County, who spoke about the impact of the project and the power of community in making affordable homeownership a reality. A heartfelt dedication prayer was offered by Rev. Nick Marlatt of First Presbyterian Church in Hastings, blessing the family and all those involved in the build. Afterward, Katelin Hammond turned the first shovel of dirt, marking the official start of construction. Plans Begin for Home #45

Exciting news! We are currently in the process of selecting the partner family for our next home. The Family Selection Workshops will be held January 11th at 11:00 am and Jan. 14th at 6:30 pm. Attendance at a workshop is a required first step. If neither of theses dates work for your family, but you want to apply please call the office ASAP at 269-948-9939. The Workshops are being held at the office located at 1215 N Broadway, in the front North corner of our ReStore Building. Home Build #45. The lot we will build on is located next door, and it was previously overgrown with brush, but thanks to the hard work of volunteers, it has begun being transformed into a site ready for construction, we plan to break ground this spring. Fundraising for the construction phase continues and we are calling on the community to rally together to bring this vision to life.
